2022 World University Music Cup (WUC)
「U Music, Magnetic.」


The World University Cup (WUC) competition, organized by the Digital Technology Research Center of Asian popular Music at the National Taiwan Normal University, can expand international horizons that no other music festival has ever achieved. The purpose of the music cup is to connect school of music on campuses from Asian countries to the rest of the world, and inspire international students’ creativity and interaction in order to encourage the growth of an emerging music force.

The Department of Music of National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) is the first public university in Taiwan to establish the Asian Popular Music Research and Academia-Industry Development office and Master’s Program in Popular Music Industry, which formally introduces Taiwan’s unique popular music culture through the collaboration between academia and industry so as to inject the new comprehensive way of thinking. The core value of the establishment is to cultivate and pass on Taiwanese popular music as well as expanding into Asian markets with the “soft power” of popular music creation and performance in hope of nurturing the Department of Music students of NTNU with practical knowledge in the popular music markets.

This creative music competition, the World University Cup, is aimed at young students from various universities and colleges, and its goal is to create the most unique memories of university lives that would last forever. Moreover, the competition can stimulate and cultivate the development of students’ knowledge of popular music cognition progress (thinking process and creativity growth) as well as passing on the experience of popular music culture in Taiwan in order to establish a pool of pop music talents and academic mechanism. Through collaboration between academia and industry, academic background knowledge is applied to Taiwanese popular music culture, which provides a new comprehensive way of thinking. Through the slogan of U Music, Magnetic, the competition is called for students from various colleges and universities to participate in the event preliminary selection process. Moreover, through music creative exchange and cross-college collaboration, all the participants will learn and observe in terms of music exhibitions and performance activities. In addition, they will be capable of expanding their new horizons in the industry and connect with international popular music cultures.

▼Registration Qualification:Young students Age between 18 to 30 who can sing and play their own songs or music
Qualification Criteria:
1.Participants must be current students in universities or colleges (including graduate students)
2.No Restrictions on sex, location, and nationality
3.Each group of participants can not submit more than two songs
4.All submitted works must be original
5.All participants must be the copyright owners of the songs (must be composers or lyricists of the submitted works)

Top Prize:One person, monetary Award: 100,000 NTD, one medal, performance opportunity for 2022 World University Music Cup and 2023 overseas university student exchange activity
Second Prize:One person, monetary Award 50,000 NTD, one medal, performance opportunity for 2022 World University Music Cup
Third Prize:One person, monetary Award 20,000 NTD, one medal, performance opportunity for 2022 World University Music Cup
The top three submitted works will be published on the OpenSea platform for free
